The Project

Looking to liven up the inbox for millions of avid golf fans, PGATOUR.com leveraged PostUp to deliver groundbreaking live embedded streaming video within the body of the email. Leveraging Certified Video technology from Goodmail, the campaign offered thousands of PGATOUR.com fans a sneak peak of live coverage of the TOUR Championship during the PGA TOUR Playoffs for the FedExCup. The video drove users directly to PGATOUR.com to watch more live videos.

The initial results of the first-of-its-kind campaign were measured by the number of click-throughs from the video creative to a PGATOUR.com landing page. The campaign’s success was measured comparing the click-through rate of the video campaign against the click-through rate of a similar campaign which did not feature embedded streaming video.

The Results

PGATOUR.com discovered that fans favored video emails over the static email messages. Initial campaign results revealed that emails with video received a 34% click-through rate versus a 14% click-through rate for the emails without embedded streaming video. PGATOUR.com now plans to integrate additional KPI metrics into the measurement plan it employs as it embeds video into more of its fan-focused campaigns.
